Our Services

Surface Water and Highways Drainage

Surface water drainage occurs when rainwater from your property drains into the sewer. Your water supplier collects and treats this surface water. There is a charge to you for this service.

Most rainwater falling on properties drains into public sewers owned by water and sewerage companies. The companies are responsible for removing and processing this rainwater. The companies collect around £1 billion each year to cover the costs of this service. If rainwater drains from your property into a public sewer, you will be charged for surface water drainage.

If you can prove that the surface rainwater from your property does not drain into the public sewer (soakaways, recycled on premises etc) you may be entitled to an exemption from future surface water charges. You may also be able to claim a refund for money you have previously paid for surface water drainage.

We have achieved refunds totalling millions of pounds for clients regarding surface water claims and water overcharging.

Meter verificaton and downsizing

Almost all non-household customers now have a water meter, and this is used to estimate the amount of foul sewage generated.

If you have a water meter, your foul sewage charges are worked out using a volumetric rate which is multiplied by the volume of water used, adjusted for the water that does not return to the sewers.

Most companies also charge a “standing charge” the level of this charge is dependent on the size of your water meter on site.

We will verify your meter and its size to be sure it is correctly suited for your business needs and that you are being charged accordingly.

Get your meter tested and verified as part of our process.

Leak Detection – Find, Repair & Refund

Most businesses will experience water leakage in some form or other. Leaks from underground pipes, plumbing fixtures and fittings can be a significant source of wasting water and money.

Leaks can go undetected for many years costing thousands of pounds. If a leak unexpectedly becomes a burst mains pipe, this can have even greater consequences such as loss of production or even temporary closure causing significant lost revenue to your business.

Our team of highly qualified leak technicians will quickly identify the exact location of the leak by using a range of the latest sophisticated equipment. Our approach is usually faster, more cost effective and less intrusive than some traditional methods.

After repairing the identified leak, we will help monitor consumption for a period to ensure that there are no other residual issues.

Finally, Water Management Services UK will calculate your historic losses caused from the leak and negotiate with the water company any refund entitlements which due. This can often be valued at several thousands of pounds.

We can initially investigate this for you without any capital expenditure. Furthermore, many leaks will generate refunds with values far exceeding the cost of repair therefore helping any such project remain “cash positive” throughout the term.

Water Supply & Non-Return To Sewer Rebates

Your chosen water company will apply an assumption about the amount of water customers use which does not return to the sewer (the ‘non-return to sewer’ allowance). If you return significantly less than the assumed amount to the sewer, you may be able to claim a reduction in your sewerage bill.

We have invaluable experience in retrieving funds for many of our clients based on this charging mechanism being wrongly applied by the water company and, have been successful in reclaiming hundreds of thousands of pound for our clients over the years.

There are potential water bill savings waiting.

Trade Effluent Consent & Negotiation/Cost Reduction

The cost of collecting, treating and disposing of trade effluent depends on the volume of effluent discharged and the strength of the waste water. Water Companies assess the volume and strength of trade effluent before it enters the sewers.

We have helped many clients achieve millions of Pounds in refunds and savings through water and sewage overcharges.
